Is Production Of Audi’s Electric Crossover In Jeopardy?
The Audi e-tron quattro has gone a long way before getting into mass production. It looks like customers will have to wait for it a little longer: delivery is postponed.
Despite the fact the model went to series production in early September, now the company has already disrupted the delivery of first vehicles to dealers.
According to optimistic forecasts, buyers will begin to receive their EVs in a month. Such a time is necessary to solve problems with the software of the Audi e-tron quattro’s systems. This is what is called the main reason for delay.
On the other hand, insiders claim that LG Chem, a supplier of batteries for Audi, increased the cost of components by 10% due to the growing demand for batteries. Of course, Audi is dissatisfied with such changes. The company is trying to resolve the issue in its favor, but progress has not been achieved yet.
For this reason, the production can be stopped even for several months. Nevertheless, the Audi e-SUV is expected to appear on public roads before its rivals. The Mercedes-Benz EQC will go to production next year, and the BMW iX3 will not arrive before 2020.
