Euro NCAP Rated High New Ford Focus For Extended Driver Assist Functions
Euro NCAP has evaluated the new Ford Focus driver assist systems. Testing took place in Penzing (Germany). ADAC motorist participated in it. This model has the widest range of high-tech driver assistance functions currently available on Ford cars.
Earlier the new Focus got 5 stars for safety from Euro NCAP. This time the organization checked the driver assist kit. The committee also assessed simplicity and effectiveness of the user’s manual explaining customers how the systems work.
The latest Ford Focus got three radars, two cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies provide improved protection and ease of driving and parking. The car also features a ‘second pilot’ that insures but never encourages distraction from the road.
Euro NCAP evaluated the model’s adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Speed Sign Recognition and Lane-Centring. These technologies help maintaining a comfortable distance from a car ahead, reducing stress during long trips on light traffic roads, keeping the car in the center of its lane, adjusting the vehicle speed.
The new Ford Focus showed a balance between driver support and providing full control, coupled with the low risk of excessive driver reliance on technology capabilities.
The list of other advanced driver assistance technologies includes Evasive Steering Assist, Adaptive Front Lighting System, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection.
