Australians Checked How Jaguar I-Pace Coped With Water
How a modern electric car behaves in water? Some skeptics believe that H2O is dangerous for battery electric vehicles. What will happen with such a car if it gets into the water? Jaguar knows the answer.
As part of the sports event, the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 (which took place on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbor), the I-Pace electric crossover was driven into a water-filled area. As a result, the model successfully passed the test.
However, in fairness we should note that not every electric vehicle is capable to do it. The Jaguar I-Pace is originally designed as a crossover able to overcome light off-road and a small ford.
The vehicle can force a pond / river half a meter deep. Such a parameter is not even found in the Subaru Outback and Jeep Cherokee.
As for the main technical features, the Jaguar I-Pace is equipped with two motors with the output of 200 hp, thanks to which it accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds.
The top speed is 200 km/h. The I-Pace has a 90 kWh battery, which is enough for 400 km of run without recharging.
