1st Image Of Tesla Model Y’s Rival From Fisker Introduced: Cool Design, 300-Mile Range
A few days ago Tesla presented a compact Model Y. Now another maker from California, Fisker Automotive, has published the first official image of its all-new 100% electric SUV and promised to launch it in the 2nd half of 2021. The model is claimed to cost under $40,000.
What can we say looking at this EV still unnamed?
It looks muscular, aggressive, great. With a driving range of 300 miles and priced below $40,000, as Fisker declares, it will really be able to compete with the Tesla Model Y, when and if it arrives.
The base Model Y (230-mile Standard Range version) is scheduled for the spring of 2021. Its price will be from $39,000.
As for the Fisker SUV, it is the first of three ‘affordable’ models of the brand below $40,000. The four-wheel-drive vehicle is powered by a pair of electric motors, one on each axle, and a 80kWh battery pack providing up to 300 miles (483km) per charge.
The new model features future-forward technologies and lower body aerodynamics. It got a small radar mounted in the center behind glass, which is a replacement of a conventional grill. A parametric pattern dominates the lower front, where air cooling is directed only as needed.
For today there is no drivable prototype, but Fisker promises to reveal it by the end of this year.
The upcoming SUV is not the first vehicle of the brand. The company has already presented the EMotion luxury electric sedan, though that flagship model will enter the market after Fisker launches its so-called affordable cars.
